a cop story.
A close friend and I are rookie cops on our first job. We are after a career criminal that has done alot of petty crimes. We track him for a while to see what he is up to in various places; convenience stores, arcades, etc. We then go undercover and befriend him and he turns out to be a very charismatic, nice guy. We go to his expensive loft apartment where he cares for his sick mother. All of a sudden we are in a high speed chase with him, chasing him through a train for an arrest and he is really good at evading us. I get into a fight with him in a barn and knock him to the ground with a punch. I turn to get my handcuffs to arrest the guy and he gets away. My partner gets mad because the guy got away from him too. I am then told by someone that my friend requested another partner b/c of what happened with the arrest and I am furious. I see my old partner around and make sarcastic remarks about how he requested to work with someone else. He doesn't say anything but looks guilty. Then we have a meeting with some sort of supervisor about the guy getting away and find out he had been arrested 14 times before and let go. I tell the supervisor that it isn't fair to come down so hard on two rookies on their first case. We get let off with a warning.
